The Cretans of Euripides is a tragedy written in 430 BC and was lost through the centuries.
Only some fragments were saved. Therefore, never before was it recomposed, performed nor presented to the audience, nowhere in the world.
Through the tragedy of Cretans we explain the symbolisms about life, time and the position of woman in society as well as about life after death. Pasiphae (Minotaur's mother) is symbolizing the moon herself, while the white Taurus (Minotaur's father) is a symbolism of the sun.
With this union we can see a ritual about the sun and the moon and their relationship.
-12 performers (actors, dancers, acrobats)
-Duration of theatrical performance 1 hour & 10’
-During the performance, there will be some short of interactivity in the audience.
-The atmosphere is mystical and magical, and the audience will be a part of it in some way.
The play will be performed in a theatre. Subtitles will be available.
TEAM BUILDING THROUGH THE MYTH
After the end of the play, the audience will be divided in groups of 10 people.
Each group will hold a specific symbol, which was part of the play and the myth (e.g. the sacred knot, the snake, the Taurus, the Moon, the thyrsus etc).
Each group will be given specific guidelines and time so that they can figure out certain riddles that have to do with the myth and come up with their own ending of the play, according to their symbol and imagination.
Since the original Euripides play was not completely saved (only fragments of it), we are not able to know its exact ending, so the challenge for each group is to understand the myth and its symoblisms and try to give their own ending.
A great team building tool that will help teams to build the quality of "consent" and co-operation in making descisions.
In the end, the groups gather in the theatre again, each one presenting their riddles and own ending on stage. The best and most imaginative one is the winner and the group gets a special reward. This activity will be held in the garden of the theatre or in a building nearby.
DURATION (including presentation and awards in the end) will be 50 minutes.
Theatrical Performance & Team building game based on myth: ¨2 hours
ALL participants in the end get a symbolic gift
to always remind them of their journey back in the Minoan ages.
